University Accreditation Guidelines Update

  • Mrs Jan Althorp, Australia
  • Dr David Shallcross, Australia
  • The role IChemE undertakes in accrediting undergraduate chemical engineering programs worldwide is an important one. Through its program of university course accreditation, IChemE aims to recognise and share best practice in the university education of Chemical Engineers. At the same time it seeks to promote development of the profession, by encouraging innovation in course design and delivery.

IChemE's outcomes based guidelines, describing what IChemE requires of a degree course to be accredited have been updated in 2008 and this session will explain the new guidelines and what has been changed. The session provides an excellent opportunity for members of IChemE to become familiar with the IChemE accreditation process, which would be of value to each university department in Australia.
